Elopements + Micro-Weddings

Lauren is one of my best friends, main second shooters, and immensely talented wedding photographer. S/O Lauren Driscoll Photography. Even before Lauren and Mark officially got engaged, we had talked about me photographing their wedding.

They both wanted their wedding to be in a sentimental area where they’ve spent a lot of their time together. Their original wedding plans was a mirco-wedding at Mark’s family cabin in Maine. Then, once the COVID pandemic hit, they were forced to change plans. Being wedding photographers, we had spent a lot of time rescheduling weddings due to COVID so we were very familiar with the options and with how things were looking.

However, taking everything into consideration, they knew they still wanted to get married. They decided to secretly elope on their original wedding date. Trying to think of another sentimental place — they landed on East Point Lighthouse.

They’ve been a couple for almost a decade and every single year on the day of Lauren’s birthday, they visit this lighthouse. They couldn’t think of a better place to elope if Maine couldn’t happen.

On the day of the elopement, Lauren and Mark got ready at their home in Phoenixville with two of Lauren’s closest friends. After getting ready together, the four of them signed the marriage license. Then, we all hopped in our cars and drove to the East Point Lighthouse in Heislerville, NJ.

First, we started with some portraits of the two of them followed by Lauren & Mark reading handwritten cards from each other. Then, they said short vows, exchanged rings, and self united into marriage together. We took lots of portraits of them together, a photo or two with their two guests, and then Lauren & Mark celebrated by sharing a mini packaged pie.

As we were taking some by the rocks on the beach, the skies opened up and absolutely poured, hard. We ran for our cars while I yelled “Congratulations, love you!” and they yelled “Thank you” as we screamed through the pouring rain and crazy wind. What an ending to a beautiful day.
